President of The Harrogate Society of Magicians Bob McBratney is trying to get the sport of synchronised magic or “sink magic” recognised by the IOC in time for them to compete at the Beijing Olympics.

The sport was last performed at competition level during the reign of Henry V but is now lost in the mists of time.

“In those the days the game of Wores Moi Ankys Gon was played very differently to today, for example, if a member of the team performed poorly they were quite likely to lose their head – literally!” explained Bob.

On Saturday, October 27, 2007, escape artists around the world will participate in the second Worldwide Escape Artist Relay, the largest coordinated performance by escape artists in history. The Worldwide Escape Artist Relay will circle the globe as escape artists around the world perform a variety of thrilling escapes. Each performer will document his or her performance as it takes place. The participants in the Worldwide Escape Artist Relay, men and women, young and old, novices and seasoned pros emerging from retirement, will unite to restore the Art of Escape to its rightful place in the public imagination!

The first Worldwide Escape Artist Relay was held on October 29, 2005. Over fifty escape artists around the world participated in the historic event, escaping from handcuffs, straitjackets, chains, steel drums filled with water, steel boxes, packing crates, and the notorious Water Torture Cell before a collective audience of thousands.

Escape artists interested in participating in the Worldwide Escape Artist Relay 2007 should register their interest on the I.B.M Ring website.

Cardiff Magical Society are presenting the very first ‘Cardiff Day of Magic’ at at the Cardiff International Arena on Sunday 11 November 2007.

During the day they have a dealer hall, dealer demonstrations and close up sessions featuring Paul Daniels, James Piper, Keith Bennett and Adrian Sullivan. The evening cabaret performance is a two hour extravaganza featuring top Cardiff Magical Society performers and starring Paul Daniels.
