Headlong Theatre is touring a production of “Edward Gant’s Amazing Feats of Loneliness” by Anthony Neilson
and directed by Steve Marmion.

Here’s what the Times Online says:
“Roll up, roll up, for Anthony Neilson’s mad freakshow of misery, first performed in 2002 and now revived by Headlong. A travelling Victorian spectacle complete with red velvet drapes, creaky stage illusions and a mysterious top-hatted impresario…”

The Dirty Secret Club are having a Halloween special meeting on 29th October. As usual, the performance will be aboard the Battersea Barge, and tickets are a very reasonable £7 (£6 if you sport a moustache real or not). The booking line is 020 7498 0004.

Princess Tenko Injured In Sword Trick

Pop singer turned magician Princess Tenko has been seriously injured whilst performing her famous “Spike Illusion in the Face of Death” in Japan.

According to the BBC:

The illusionist was trapped in a box by ten metal swords during a show in the Japanese city of Sabae, breaking several ribs and her right cheek. One of the swords “would have been stuck in her right eye if it were one centimetre higher”, her manager Noboru Ochiai said. “It will take a month to heal the wounds,” he added.

Pete Firman’s Hokum

Boro’ boy and star of Monkey Magic and Dirty Tricks, comedy magician Pete Firman is debuting his new tour Hokum at the edinburgh fringe 2nd-26th August 2007.

I particularly the “Secret World of Magic”, where he toured the World with Ali Cook performing and interviewing some of magic’s legendary performers including Mac King, Juan Tamariz and Max Maven.

Derren Brown describes Pete as “delightful and very, very funny”. Along with being very funny, Firman is a great performer, and I hope the smoking ban doesn’t stop him performing his swallowing cigarettes tricks.

Tickets are now on sale for World famous mentalist Marc Salem’s latest performance “Marc Salem’s Mind Games Extra” running 10th to 29th July 2007 at the Tricycle theatre London.

Marc Salem has been a student of the human mind for over 30 years and is considered one of the world’s foremost authorities on non-verbal communication. Forget all that, he is a fantastic entertainer and has one of the best mentalist acts around. I have my tickets, watch this space for a review late July.
